The Drozdal Funeral Home handled both of my parent's (Frank A. Malinowski and Doris C. Malinowski) funerals with consummate professionalism and the compassion usually reserved for the closest of family or friends.
Lyndsey Drozdal and staff enabled, initially my Father, my sister Brenda Wickles and me unencumbered to mourn the passing of Dad's wife and our Mother, to plan and conduct a memorial service on her behalf with the 400+- people who gathered to celebrate her life with our family. What little we needed was handled seamlessly and with grace...they'd anticipated and addressed almost all of the things, even the little touches, that left our family certain that my Mother would have been pleased and proud.
When Brenda and my Father passed away we had the same experience with Drozdal Funeral Home only this time there was a little extra....something very, very special.
My Father had spent the last 18 months of his life in the expert and compassionate care of Lynda Manor Nursing Home. He was a gregarious fellow even to the last and had struck a very intimate chord with his care givers.
When Drozdal was called by Lynda Manor to pick up my Father's body after his passing they were directed to the facility's front door. On arrival, the staff that had cared for my Father at Lynda Manor brought my Father's flag covered body down to the front lobby entrance for transfer to the funeral home personnel. As part of that process, each of the care givers took a moment and said their personal "Good-byes" to my Father.
It was in taking note of those intimately poignant and loving few moments that my Father received and, subsequently, sharing those moments with my sister Brenda and me...that was the "something very, very special" that Drozdal et al did to make our experience(s) with them memorable.
